Rules of Wearing Rudraksha

DO’s And DON’Ts of Wearing Holy Rudraksha

Rules of Wearing Rudraksha, Rudraksha is a symbol of Satvikta (way of life that gives you a direction to peace and space for morality). Rudraksha should therefore be avoided while in any act of Rajasi (a lifestyle that represents extreme and unnecessary luxury) and Tamsi (a lifestyle that represents requirement of anger, misguidance, lust, intoxication, gambling, betting, betrayal and any such illegal/ unethical way to live). For such reasons, there are some rules for wearing Rudraksha.

Following are some do’s and don’ts of wearing Rudraksha if you wish to get maximum benefit out of it.

DO’s

·        Wear with the way prescribed. Although Rudraksha never has side effect, it is always better to wear in a proper prescribed manner. Make sure to recite the Beej Mantra of the bead at least 5 times before wearing the bead for the first time. (For knowing the beej mantra of different Rudraksha.

·        It is suggested that Rudraksha be cleaned every six months.

·        Wear on a Monday but in case a Monday is not possible, wear on the day of the prescribed God. If that is also not possible, wear on any day except a few days like Saturday, Amavsya (No Moon Day), Grahan (Eclipse), Sootak Kaal (The duration of cleaning and getting pure when someone in the family expires), Saudi Kaal/ Vriddhi Kaal (15 days of the new born baby in the family), Pitra Paksha (15 days of Pitra coming on Earth), Kharmaas/ Poos Maas (30 days of no Shubh Activity) and some similar occasions when go Shubh activity should be performed.

·        Wear with a clean intention. Thinking of harming someone else will not help your cause.

·        Wear it after having it Jaagrit/ Abhimantrit/ Siddh or just wear after worshipping it. It will benefit more. However, in case you cannot get it energized/ Jaagrit/ Abhimantrit/ Siddh/ Pran Pratishthit, it does not mean it will not affect you. In addition, you can wear the Rudraksha with a simple mantra of “Om Namah Shivaay” and save the impending costs of all the above.

·        In case you remove Rudraksha whenever the need be, keep it in a clean and dry place.

·        If the bead is damaged due to any reason, dispose off in a pond/ lake or a water body or dig it under the roots of a tree (preferred trees are Madaar/ Bilwapatra).

·        It is preferred to remove at night. After you have taken a bath next morning, wear it again.

·        It is advised for girls to remove Rudraksha when in their menstrual cycle to maintain hygiene. At least for the first 4 days before washing up hair, and until the girl is ready for Pooja, remove the Rudraksha and put it in a clean place. Wear it after freshening up.

·        Mixing various forms of Rudraksha is not a good idea.
